Agata - Torrente Igna, Dueville
Foto Appiani
This room displays many samples from the local area: e.g. faceted gems of red quartz from Campogrosso (Recoaro); zircons from Fosse di Novale (Valdagno) and the rare xonotlite from Laghi. Among the gemstones with cabochon cut there are colorful samples of johannsenite, the curious “waterdrop” from Vicenza - a hollow chalcedony which holds water in its interior - and the celestine from Val di Lonte (Castelgomberto). The various stages of the process leading from raw to cut and polished gemstone are also showed (cabochon and faceted cuts).
